The Purpose of Poetry
Hey guys!
So I was doing some research for a school project and stumbled upon this post from the Writer's Digest blog! I LOVED IT! It basically explained poetry. Why I write it, and why it's valuable! I've been asked so many times, "what's with you and poetry?" "why do you like poetry?" or even "what's the point of this poetry assignment?" Well, the Writer's Digest can walk you through the first two questions if you're wondering why I love poetry. I'll have the link at the end of the article. However, for those of you who are rather pessimistic about poetry, let me open your eyes to a new perspective!
What Does Poetry Do?
1. Poetry gives you a way to process life without the pressure of having to make sense. In fact half the struggle in poetry is turning profound sense into a deep and twisted sentence.
2. Better grammar skills. Sounds dorky, but I'm totally serious on this one! How many different ways can you combine the words in this sentence to make it more confusing, but still grammatically correct? Seriously! Try it!
3. Deeper thoughts. At least for me, I found that writing poetry has made me more bold to explore the world of deep thoughts. It's amazing what you'll find yourself thinking when you allow yourself to just spill over onto paper.
4. Thinking for yourself. I'm sure someone is going to go and try to do this as soon as I say it's not doable, but when exploring the deep canyons of your mind, and spitting up deep thoughts into a poem, it's pretty hard to go back to the textbook for an opinion. There is no book out there that is going to tell you how to think or what to think.
Books offer ideas, but where you take them is up to you. This is why people can sin with their thoughts. Anyone can take their thoughts to a wrong place, but in the end you can learn a lot about yourself. Let your mind roam free for a second. What is the first thing you think of? Is that your priority? Write a poem about that. Spill all your emotions and deep thoughts into a dramatic description. What do you think about that topic? Are you angry? Empty? Lonely? Happy? Thankful? Left out? In love? Desperate? Watch your language when you write. Are you wordy? Concise? Vulgar? Excited to use big words? Small word person? How do your thoughts flow? Are they beautifully connected, or are the connections choppy???
There is so much emotional and practical application for poetry! For me, it's become a very fortified foggy-glassed stronghold. Now I know this sounds like a paradox, but let me digest the poetic statement for you.
Breaking Down Poetry Description
Fortified- poetry adds protection over what you want to say. It keeps your emotions safe.
foggy-glassed- poetry is a widow to the soul, but its also so confusing sometimes that you can't really tell what is going on in the poet's head.
stronghold- its safe. Your emotions are safely kept and expressed without judgment, unless it be your own, I'm the form of poetry. People wi'' hear your voice, but they can't walk away with all of your secrets.

Sunday's Post
Hey Folks!
So sorry this post is late! I was out of town without internet and didn't upload this before I left!!! Sowithout further ado, here is Sunday's post:
I was in church this morning and the pastor read this Bible verse, which REALLY stuck out to me! And I thought I would share it with everyone ;)
I feel like people, who are Christians, myself included, often forget the power worldly passions have over them, and how hard it is to fight back. Its so easy to slip into sin because we are all faulty. But the best news that anyone could ever hear is that Christ died for those sins and slip ups! He died. Jesus/Christ took our death penalty that even the person who is most apparently perfect in human eyes should have that death penalty because God is more perfect than anyone can imagine!!! So we all deserve death... no matter how perfect we appear. I just find it amazing that in Christ, and with his power, we can defeat sin! In Christ we put to death our wrong thoughts, actions, words, but not by our own power; by God's power in us we "have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires."
Have a good day guys!!!
God Bless,
Laire

Friendship Bracelets 101
Hey Beauties!
So! Friendship bracelets! Not going to lie I make more than I can wear. I think the most I've worn is 6-7. Some of you I know are rolling you're pretty little eyes thinking, "that is not that many bracelets!" which is true! But then the question becomes, what are friendship bracelets to you? What do they look like? Why do you wear them? Why do you make them? Do you even make them? Truth is that there are SSSOOO many different kinds of friendship bracelets! There are a few that I have had that have been sentimental gifts, but for the most part I wear them because lots of color is just my style.... typically. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I do sometimes opt for the white t-shirt and jeans, although its pretty rare to find me wearing less color than more! That's actually one way my bracelets come in "handy". Even if I dress in neutral colors, I've always got a pop of color on my wrist! If you are OCD about things matching and being the same color, the way I wear my bracelets will bother you!
Back to the types of bracelets, here is a short list breaking up some different kinds of bracelets for you!
1. Some are special gifts
A) All knot bracelets
B) Beaded Bracelets
C) Beaded and Knotted bracelets
2. Some are just worn for the fun of it
A) All knot bracelets
B) Beaded Bracelets
C) Beaded and Knotted bracelets
If you follow me on twitter, you know that I occasionally post pictures of some of the "sets" I make for fun!
This first red, white, and black set is a perfect example of a gift. I made the bracelets especially for my best friend Liz. (shout out to her twitter and incredible soccer skills @EAalbue ;)) the set consists of two unique bracelets: an all knotted bracelet, and a bead and knotted bracelet.

This next set, I passed on to my girl Hmuff! (shout out to her twitter and stellar singing skills @TheHmuff ;)) this set is unique because its three bracelets are all composed of knots!
Finally, so that you all know it is ok to just make bracelets for yourself, This is the set that I finished most recently. Its a set I started at the end of summer/beginning of the school year. We all know how homework slows us down, so this babe didn't get done until just recently! There is a picture of it on my twitter!
Two of the three patterns in this set are original! When I say that the patterns are original, I mean that I did the math and made the patterns happen without a guide, other than previous knowledge. The pattern for the giant bracelet on the bottom was formulated when I was fooling around with other ideas for patterns, and not having much luck with them either! Hahaha! It was an experiment! As is everything we do in life that we are simply trying. Albert Einstein once said that "It wouldn't be experimenting if we knew what we were doing..." It just shows you the power of the human brain God created us with! It's so cool what we are blessed to be capable of doing! If anyone would like me to post some of my favorite video tutorials for bracelets, don't be afraid to comment down below, or tweet me! @claire_a_beth
Hope you all have a blessed thanksgiving!
God Bless,
Laire
Ps. Next friendship bracelet post: Size of bracelets? I have a TON that I can write about that, or patterns you guys want tutorials for? I will look for them and see if I can find them! Let me know what you're interested in seeing!

Round and Around // Lyrics
Round and Around
Round and around and around we go
staring at each other in a hopeless fault
Waiting on each other to break the ice
And in the meantime we just play nice.
Hello, I want to know you better now
Hello, I wish you could show me how
Hello, you have my gaze and I have yours
But I'm too shy to make a guy's move for you!
Desperation, oh you feel me we're making
sound after sound after sound in my soul.
I let it show when I'm blushing; tell me you
Don't know because I'm hiding hiding hiding
Hello, I want to know you better now
Hello, I wish you could show me how
Hello, you have my gaze and I have yours
But I'm too shy to make a guy's move for you!
Hello, I want to know you better now
Hello, I wish you could show me how
Hello, you have my gaze and I have yours
But I'm too shy to make a guy's move for you!
HELLO (and instrumentals)
Hello, I want to know you better now
Hello, I wish you could show me how
Hello, you have my gaze and I have yours
But I'm too shy to make a guy's move for you!
Too shy so round and around we go.
